Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum ‘Mariesii’ has distinctly veined, dark green leaves which become red-purple in autumn. These contrast beautifully with large white lacecap spring flowers. It’s perfect for growing as a specimen shrub in a mixed border and also works well in Japanese garden schemes.

Grow Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum ‘Mariesii’ in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Mulch annually with well-rotted manure or compost, and remove vertical shoots to retain the shape of the shrub, after flowering.
