Monty Don shares his seed sowing tips for August, to help you get great results with salad leaves, thalictrum, and winter radishes
At this time of year, we're busy enjoying the splendour of our summer gardens, but there are still plenty of sowing opportunities. Watch as Monty sows salad leaves for winter, starts off thalictrum in bulk, and gets winter radish in for harvests later in the year.

Sowing rocket and lettuce for winter
Monty demonstrates how to sow salad rocket and suggests other salad leaves to sow now, such as corn salad and 'Marvel of Four Seasons' lettuce that will crop in autumn, into winter if it's mild, and then start producing leaves again in early spring.
Sowing thalictrum
Learn how to grow Thalictrum delavayi in bulk, by sowing seed now in trays for planting out in the garden next May and June.
Sowing winter radish
Watch as Monty sows winter radish 'Pasque' in the vegetable garden to provide a harvest in late autumn and into winter.
