Gooseberries grow best in a sunny, sheltered spot so would be perfect on a south facing balcony. This heavy cropping variety will be the most productive if you leave space around the plant to ensure there’s good airflow. The plant has pretty green and pink flowers, and will produce large juicy fruit which can be picked from early summer onwards.

This thornless variety of blackberries means you can pick the fruit without having to worry about pricking your fingers. This also means that the potted berry would work well in a small area if you’ve got pets or small children. Patio Lemon Tree
A lemon tree would make a lovely addition to your own garden, or an unusual gift. Easy to grow, they are perfect for a sunny patio but are frost tender so will need to be brought into the warm before temperatures start to fall. They keep their leaves and produce blossom throughout the year and are happiest in full sun and a gritty, free-draining compost.

This pear tree is designed to grow in a pot and will make a welcome addition to any patio, especially as it is are hardy and will tolerate year-round conditions. If you don’t have space for more than one tree this self-fertile variety is a great choice as it doesn’t need another tree for pollination. It produces a long, narrow fruit with a soft juicy texture which makes a perfect snack, a good addition to baked goods, or sliced on a cheeseboard.

Patio Apple Cox’s Orange ‘Sunset’
This tree would work well if you only have room for a single apple tree as it doesn’t need a pollinating partner. This means that the tree will be pollinated even if there aren’t any of the same variety nearby. The Cox’s apple family is well-known as the crispiest and best loved apple in the UK, with fruit that is medium sized and an orange/red colour.
