Photos and feedback: Meet Alan at Highclere
Subscribers were invited to spend a day at Highclere Castle - the real 'Downton Abbey', accompanied by Alan Titchmarsh and Lucy Hall.
Subscribers were invited to join us for a special day with Alan Titchmarsh at Highclere Castle on Thursday 3 October, 2019. Widely recognised as the fictitious home of Lord Grantham in the ITV drama and recent film 'Downton Abbey', located near Newbury, it's the real home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. The day included a tour of the state rooms and gardens, a light lunch, talks and Q&A session with Alan. Guests were also treated to an exclusive Gardeners' World Magazine goody bag to take home. Lady Carnarvon and BBC Gardeners' World Magazine's Editor, Lucy Hall were also in attendance.
What a pleasure it was to spend a day at Highclere Castle last Thursday on the GW trip. Meeting Lord & Lady Carvarvon, Alan Titchmarsh and of course Lucy Hall. All gave us a excellent insight to the castle and gardens. A splendid organised day, looking forward to the next one. Many thanks again to Gardeners World.
We have just returned home from a superb day out at Highclere Castle. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. Alan is an excellent speaker - warm, amusing, informative, professional - well, you know all that already! Lady Carnarvon was a delightful host and everyone involved was professional and helpful. The lady who took us on the tour of the house was lovely too. Lunch was very good - better than we had expected. We were thrilled with our goody bags too, and that rounded off the day very nicely. Definitely worth the money! We’ll look out for similar events again.
Just wanted to advise that today was thoroughly enjoyable. The talks from Lady Carnarvon and Alan Titchmarsh were excellent as was the guided tour of the castle. Food at lunchtime was also very good. Highclere staff were all excellent (guides, restaurant staff etc.).
