What is the Wilkinson Sword Ultralight Digging Spade like?
This super-light spade has a stainless steel blade ending in a sharp point, with a serrated edge on one side. Riveted to the front of the blade, the lightweight metal shaft has a rubber covering along most of its length and the moulded plastic D-handle has a grip insert.
What is the Wilkinson Sword Ultralight Digging Spade like to use?
This spade is extremely light and comfortable to use. The ergonomic handle helps to ease pressure on the back and the rubber grip to the shaft and grip insert in the handle make them non slip and easy on the hands. Despite its weight, it feels strong and substantial and the serrated edge on the blade helps it break through root congested soil. It’s easy to handle and makes long digging jobs much less daunting and exhausting.
Will the Wilkinson Sword Ultralight Digging Spade last?
Crafted from rustproof steel this spade feels tough and substantial. Only the four rivets that attach the blade to the shaft are its weak spot. This spade will only last as long as its rivets.
Is the Wilkinson Sword Ultralight Digging Spade good value for money?
This lightweight spade is well thought out and useful for anyone for whom digging with heavier tools is difficult. It’s also the lowest priced spade in our test (2019) and comes with a 10-year warranty. We think it’s excellent value for money.
Who is the Wilkinson Sword Ultralight Digging Spade most useful for?
Useful for precision planting, trenching or planting trees, this lightweight spade is also ideal for anyone with prolonged digging jobs and elderly and less able gardeners.
