This is a carbon steel spade with a textured blade that has comfortable flat treads at the top. The shaft and handle are plastic bu the YD handle has an ergonomic tilt to it to help you lean into the spade as you dig and take pressure off the back and a soft grip to stop your hands slipping

The carbon steel blade on this spade feels strong and sturdy but once the plastic handle snaps it will be almost impossible to replace so this spade will last as long as the handle.

At £7.50 this was by far the cheapest model we tested but was well thought out with foot treads, an ergonomic handle and soft grip. All the testers agreed this was amazing value for the price
