What is the Bosch ALS 2500 Blower Vac?
This mains powered electric blower vac blows leaves, grass and light hedge clippings, vacuums them up and shreds them into a large holding bag. We’ve classed it as single-use assembly, which means the individual attachments need changing for it to switch from blower to vacuum mode. It comes with a padded shoulder strap.
What is the Bosch ALS 2500 Blower Vac like to use?
Assembly is really easy thanks to the well-designed click-fit tubes and the press buttons for dismantling but it does take time to change the vacuum attachment when swapping between modes.
The on/off switch is situated under the handle so you need the other hand to use it when blowing, which is awkward but it’s easier to reach when vacuuming. Otherwise it’s smooth to operate and feels light, with an adjustable handle. The comfortable padded carry strap helps to make it well balanced, particularly when vacuuming.
The Bosch ALS 2500 Blower Vac is sturdy and powerful with a 2500W motor and a variable blowing speed up to 300km/h, which is useful and gives some control but the lowest speed is still powerful making it tricky to direct lighter leaves. The blower nozzle is also quite small, making it less capable on large areas of leaves. The waterproof collection bag clips on below the tube and holds up to 45 litres, so you have to empty it less often than some we tested.
It’s also easy to empty with a zip on the base. The shredding ratio of 10:1 works well and consistently, making shreddings for either compost or mulch. It’s comparatively compact and also comes apart, although the vacuum tube requires some effort to get it apart. All the components can be zipped up into the collection bag for easy storage.
Who is the Bosch ALS 2500 Blower Vac most useful for?
This gets the job done well but, given some of the handling issues and its 8m cable, is best used in smaller gardens.
