What are the Burgon and Ball RHS Professional Bypass Secateurs like to use?
With a heat-treated, high carbon steel blade, these are sharp, strong secateurs. They have a cutting diameter of 25mm, a handy wire cutting notch on the upper blade and a sap groove to help stop the blades jamming with sap. The central safety catch should be easily flipped on and off with just the thumb but it’s a bit sticky and needs an extra push with both hands to lock. The handles are comfortable and have a plastic coating for extra grip but they’re dark green in colour and could get very easily lost in prunings, or the compost. They open quite wide so are not for small hands.
Replacement parts, like blades and springs are available and they also come with a tensioning tool to make sure the blades are always aligned.
Are the Burgon and Ball RHS Professional Bypass Secateurs good value for money?
These are in the mid-range price bracket, have replaceable parts, good features and a long warranty of 10 years. We think they’re good value for money.
Who are the Burgon and Ball RHS Professional Bypass Secateurs most useful for?
Great for all pruning jobs around the garden but larger hands are better suited to the wide opening and stiff safety catch.
