Building a bird box

Kate Bradbury demonstrates how to help your garden birds by creating a simple, safe and cosy nest box for birds.

Do it:

All year round

Creating your own nest boxes for birds is a simple and economical way to attract wildlife to your garden. All that's required are a few materials including timber, screws and a hinge, to construct a nest box that'll attract species like blue tits and great tits. You'll also do yourself a favour, as these insectivorous birds will help to keep your garden free of pests.
