Ivy bees and ivy flowers
At last, I have found ivy bees. For the last three autumns I've routinely scoured ivy flowers in London to no avail. But last week I found what I was looking for.
Boston ivy
I have just had passed a blissful four weeks. I haven't been lying on a beach or enjoying an extended lunch. I've merely been looking out of the window a few times a day.
Honey bees in gardens
We went to the Red House at the weekend. Everywhere was calm but there was a great deal of hubbub in the garden. The beehive was, well, a hive of activity.

Harvesting apples
I spent a day last week harvesting apples – the cooker ‘Bramley’s Seedling’, something similar to ‘Cox’s Orange Pippin’ and 'Egremont Russet'.
