Biography

Jekka McVicar

Over 25 years ago, Jekka started her organic Herb Farm, where she grows more than 600 species of culinary, medicinal and aromatic herbs from around the world. She has been awarded 59 RHS Gold Medals for her herb displays including 12 at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Jekka has had four books published and contributes to Gardeners' World Magazine, Good Food and Gardens Illustrated. She has appeared in many television programmes including Rick Stein's Food Heroes, BBC Gardeners' World and most recently with Chris Beardshaw in Great Garden Detectives.

She regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio, including Woman's Hour and the Food Programme on BBC Radio 4, and local BBC radio stations. Jekka has also written and presented a series on BBC Radio 4 called 'Herbs pure and simple'.

She is President of the West of England Herb Group and is a member of RHS Council and the Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Committee.
