Cow parsley

I tried spraying what has become a small field of cow parsley, but it just looks sad. I tried strimming it down and digging out the roots, but they seem to end in Australia. While looking for inspiration I noticed that the Environmentalists are asking people to preserve cow parsley for wildlife. So, I now have backache and guilt. Any ideas? I would like to plant other things in the area to introduce some colour to an otherwise shady gloom. Is there anything that can compete with Queen Anne's Lace?

In a dire cowparsley ridden state I have used glyphosate. But not now. Cut it down, don't let it seed and when in regrows and has lots of leaves spray it. Whenever that is, autumn is often the time but it depends on the rains
