I have noticed that a lot of question windows from new gardeners come up blank!

Please note that you have to press the green "Submit reply" button at the bottom of the comment window to enter your comment/question. DO NOT just press the Enter key on your keyboard, that does not work here. I know because I've done it too several times, out of habit!

I'm sure this'll be helpful Sue, as long as it gets regularly 'bumped' so it's visible on the first page

Still need someone to answer it though

Why?  It's not a question so doesn't need an answer

Alan I have a toolbar along the top of message space but I heard someone saying it depends on what laptop/notebook etc you use. Could it be that?

Sorry!

Why cant some just let a message sit without posting silly comments?

I wonder sometimes what this forum is all about

This Forum has a couple of variations the desktop site and the mobile site. The mobile site has a text box and thats it. Your webbrowser on your mobile device should have an option to "request desktop site" However not everything works

Picture uploading is a particular problem. It's done for security i believe (by Google, Apple and Microsoft), probably mostly for content providers so you can't randomly upload copyrighted content, the fact that it makes it difficult to upload our own content is ... annoying. However you can upload to a social site and post a link back here.

Hey! I'm a newby. This was really helpful. You guys are great! I never knew improving my gardening knowledge could be such fun? Did someone mention cake?!!
21/04/2013 at 14:05

...  where's the cake? I did think of making some, but if someone else is doing it I'll join in - made bread yesterday too - nearly time to eat radishes with fresh bread - oh yummy!!

It's all about helping people and offering them advice, and we can't do that unless they know how to post their queries.

If you just 'let a message sit' then it quickly moves down the page and onto the next one and any newcomers to the site won't see it.  Posting 'silly comments' is just a cheerful way of bumping the message up so newcomers see it when they first arrive at this page.

Is that so very  wrong?

As for cake - the sun's still shining here so I'll be back in the garden in a minute - but I just might make a Victoria Sandwich with a blackcurrant jam and creme fraiche filling a bit later if anyone's interested?

If you put the kettle on about 4ish, mines a Darjeeling wth a slice of lemon please (no milk or sug)
