Feeling really cold - sorry Jo - so just lit wood burner. Was a struggle to get it to go usually 1 match and whoosh away it goes - 5 matches later it has decided to flame. Could be different sort of kndling, not sure. perhaps it was damp after deluge during night - I lay it to light when it is really cold so not every day.

Cake looks like the sort my kids used to decoreate fot their Granddad. He always ate it! Like Dad's/Mums who eat pastry that has been squashed and pumelled to make a jam tart or whatever.

Don't worry about it.

Mild Chicken curried thigh's n legs! Marinated all day! Assorted raw veg! either chopped or grated as a side! n Raita sauce n mango as a dip! Shall go eat n call it a day! Night all!

Well I've just baked 3 almost ripe pears in butter, lemon juice, caster sugar & a vanilla pod all done directly in the Remoska- a table top electric cooker. Absolutely yum. ALL gone, served with vanilla ice cream.

We're a lot warmer now-phew. The lounge gas fire now turned down & the hall radiator also on a lower setting. Ok upstairs is chilly, but have taken the fan heater up ready for later. I've even removed my body warmer!

Washed up with kettle of water- rest for dishwasher, when I get round to emptying it.

OH got remote! I'll never learn. J.

Lottie- now NO hot water tank, so no emersion heater now either!

With these new fangled boilers the tank & the one in loft are both redundant! The empty 'hot' one is now outside & the loft one has been emptied/drained, I hope.  I refused to let them see if would go through the loft hatch- noway, it's way too big. But as it's now empty, one less worry re it beginning to leak or the ballcock needing replacing again. I know that neighbours have had damp ceilings from problems above.

Combo boiler takes abit of getting used to but haven't had an airing cupboard for a long time, fuel bills are lower and hot water is on 'tap' as no tank to heat up.

Can also adjust water temperature according to the time of year. at moment ours is on autumn/spring setting but have a feeling will have to turn it to winter earlier this year. Best we have is  a thermostat we can put in the room we are in or on landing in evening. When the burner is on we find the heating doesn't come on very much, heats most of house andwe don't have thermostst in living room.

Make sure you keep cover over old water tank Jo. You could get lots of creepy crawlies if not!
