Our Cherry tree is about 15-20ft tall and needs abut of a haircut! It has produced huge amounts of fruit this year and still has loads on it (no pigeons this year for some reason? Last year they had the lot!) When is best to do it and how do we go about it? Im terrifed of killing it off cos its gorgeous and a real focal point of the garden, but garden is narrow and the tree is starting to eat into ours and next doors space and it getting rather tall!

Cherry trees are best summer pruned to avoid disease. Prune now.

Yup. Definitely. Always prune straight after fruiting. Cut out any weak or dodgy branches, branches that are crossing another one, and branches that are growing inwards towards the centre of the tree. Trim for height, too.

Thanks guys, Will get cracking this weekend
