Ha, ha, someone with a sense of humour - good on you John. We use a pine cone - closed and it is raining, open and it is warm dry weather. My parents used one many years ago and I have carried on the tradition.
Yes nutcutlet, I have seen seaweed hanging in gardens on the island. We just happen to have pine trees hence the hanging cone - seaweed works just as well, although if you have a drought it may dry out and crumble!

Thanks for the photo Richard, it made me chuckle?.
I still use my Mum's advice from when I was a kid. "It might rain"! Like the stone, which is brilliant, it has never failed me.

I had a bit of seaweed but it went mouldy

Nut, that's sad. Father Christmas might assist this year. Although, if you want to try, there are kits available to make your own stone

My fault H-C, I should have renewed my seaweed earlier.
Not short of stones, maybe give that one a try

Maybe I should go for a cone. we have Pinus sylvestris. I was surprised the seaweed went mouldy, I didn't expect that, crumble seemed more likely.
