Around my Alliun plants I have found many tiny seedlings, do I leave these to mature naturally where they appear or is there a way of helping them on a bit?
I don't really know the best answer, but I leave mine. I suppose, if you aren't happy with where they are, you could pot them up and grow them on a bit and replant them.
Certainly they do better if left to grow for a while. Alliums are odd in that they produce roots from the basal plate and thes roots do not branch. So if you damage a root, it dies back and the plant has to grow a new one from the basal plate.
If you really need to move them, then wait until the leaves on the parent plant have died down and the bulbs have gone dormant.
Thanks for your kind replies.
