Some of the products I have received in the past from Parkers have not been a great standard but what do you all expect for the prices? I have always had a good response when I have informed Parker my plants are 'Not as described' or have died. I received replacement plants and a full refund. Places like Crocus are expensive. Id rather go to a garden centre and have a shufty there.

To be fair, most 'professional gardens' always say buy small plants and they will establish much quicker. Have a listen next Monty Don, Alan Tichmarsh et al are planting up beds. You pay your price, ya take your chance.

Just got alium bulbs from parkers.....expected bigger but they look sound. For plants dont buy from parkers. I have found some great nurseries online this year and received excellent plants re quality, size and packaging. Many came early to mid summer and are flowering now. Parkers, like T& M, suttons etc supply very, very small plants that will produce nothing til next year

Oh no, just saw this thread, and ordered off parkers last month. I have tulip, crocus and daff bulbs coming, along with some clematis and climbing roses. Anyone ordered and had success with Clems or roses off them before? Getting worried now as totally new to gardening, so don't know what I should be checking for when I receive my goods back.

Oh dear.  Just ordered some bulbs and some cornus plants from their catalogue.  I've had mixed results from there in the past, the plants and bulbs I ordered earlier in the year were a decent size and the bulbs were sound.  However, when I ordered a lot of mixed perennials (via an offer in a newspaper), the only healthy thing in the package were two slugs.  I sent an email off complaining, and my money was refunded.

My latest order I applied a discount code I'd found online, and this looked like it had gone through, but they've sent me an invoice (paid with credit card) for the full amount.  It's only a fiver, but I'm so broke at the minute that this is a lot (I can do packed lunches for a week for husband & son for that kind of money).  Does anyone know if they are allowed to show one price and then charge me the full amount?

Anyway, will see what the plants and bulbs are like when they arrive, and will reserve judgement until then.  If they are very small and bulbs are indifferent, will kick up a stink (worked last time to get my money back).

Mummymuddypaws, just phone them and say you want to cancel or at least that you bought at advertised price. Best to get perennials and shrubs locally. Just pot up Cornus and it will grow away next spring. The bulbs will be fine, maybe not too large, but you will have them or years and better every year so don't lok at it as wasted money

i have ordered loads of stuff of Parkers and have never had a bad plant or bulb. But everyone has to remember that you get what you pay for, and at the prices, you ain't gonna get mature..................

If they won't credit your card with the difference, contact your credit card company immediately - they should sort it for you.

I've never had any trouble with plants or bulbs from Parkers

I bought caryopteris summer sorbet and bare root geraniums from parkers. All were very tiny. None of them survived which is unusual for me. Someone said you get what you pay for but perhill nurseries supply small plants but they are cheap but healthy. Buy now for next year and you I'll have full size plants by then. we all have different experiences but parkers are not wisest choice for plants.

I have bought from J Parkers for about 4/5 years now since I had my garden re-done.  Because I needed flowers/colour quickly, I bought from this company as they are cheap and generally sell bog-standard types of plants, although they are small and need nurturing.  I have had fairly good results considering the smallness of the plants, but on a couple of occasions the plants have died, despite me giving them my best efforts.  Earlier this year I planted 25 Quickthorn as I needed hedging and all but 9 have died.  JP told me I should have contacted them earlier.  That's fine, but with such new and young plants their time scale for complaint is  very poor, but not as poor as their responses.  I have now asked them to delete my details from their records.   Also the free lily bulbs have never appeared!

I've not had any problems with J.Parkers bulbs and have ordered again from them this year.

I recently ordered from Parker's but when planting the bulbs realised that only white hyacinths were included, when I had also ordered deep blue and pale pink!!  There was no invoice in parcels!

For bulbs, etc parkers are fine. For plants no. They are too small. Far better value for money elsewhere for plants to flower next spring or summer

Use parkers for bulbs as we did at the nursery I worked at. Always seemed decent quality and price

I always use parkers, if I have any problems, they email straight back with info, their plants are guaranteed for a year, they will credit you with the money back. I had a fantastic show of bulbs last year, and hopefully will get the same this year.

I bought a bare root acer in the spring, which is now about 2tf tall and covered in red leaves,it was only about £1,99, plus several others at that price. I had 3 roses for a tenner, all bloomed and one now layered. I cannot begin to say how much I have in my garden from them! I have just bought several perennials that look dead now, but they are only sleeping and will be perfect next year. They do some really good bargains, I cannot fault them. I find the staff very friendly.

I could go on........

PS there is a 10% discount for GW subscribers.

PPS I have just remembered that the 100+ pack of primula small plugs that I ordered from Parkers, actually came direct from Jersey Plants.

Sandra  I have very good roses growing from parkers. Soom of the other plants I have had have been disappointing.

Last year I ordered a number of shrubs from Parkers and they have all grown well. Yes they are small, but so is the price. I also bought their Fairy rose collection which has done really well, still flowers as I type. I have had some perrenials that did not survive but that may be down to me rushing to get them in the ground rather than nurturing them in pots

I am now lookng at their new catalogue wondering what to get for this year.

Me too Rosa.
Never have problems with parkers, plants or bulbs.
Some people can grow things and some can't, depending on knowledge, climate and soil etc.
Don't keep slagging of the company I don't think it's fair,

I was robbed by parkers last year and got VERY POOR customer service....in fact none at all.

Jersey plants are good and P&P is free, but choice is limited.

Bought some CANNA plants last year and got a good size plants from them (unlike T&M, £12.00p for 9cm pot!!) and very GOOD customer service too.

CROCUS are good in all aspects but you need a second mortgage to shop there!!
