I have just finished planting up six pots with tulip bulbs I bought yesterday for 50p a bag from my favourite GC.I've gone a bit brave with the colours bright orange Ballerina and Lambada fringed tulips with Black Parrot and Queen of the Night dark maroon tulips for my front garden. I've played safe for my back garden with maroons and Shirley a soft pink tulip,to compliment some I have already put in my borders including one thats supposed to be almost black!  l couldn't resist some more alium Christophii too .I had better go cover them in chicken wire now in case our local massive size of a dog squirrel gets peckish!

Nightowl Elf  I will definately be taking photos this spring i've worked hard this autumn to ensure a good show next year, l just hope it doesn't all go rotten with this darned rain.

Dovefromabove, I have always been a bit against orange flowers until my husbands friend started giving me his spare Tigers Eye marigolds and galardia plants that he grows from seed now l rather have a soft spot for orange and gold flowers.and my dear old neighbour opposite me loves all my bright plants so really l grow a few bold colours for him.

Artjak , it is easy to adore alliums they really earn their space in my garden. l also have allium Purple Sensation and some deep plum alliums [altropurpleum maybe]  but for 50p a pack l couldn't resist six more, greedy l know but the bulbs were massive and l guess they will flower later than all my others.

Gardengirl, l love bargains for my garden.l've had some great buys before roses for a pound from the tlc section that are now splendid specimans one called Valentine Heart that is a pretty scented pink.l have some fab plants l have got from school/church/village fetes that l've been able to devide and dot about my garden.l grow much from seed starting them off on my kitchen windowsill, sweetpeas you will get free in GW magazine are always wonderful,l save seed from year to year, and once you've had nigella, forget me nots, foxgloves.honesty and poppies in your garden they're there for life.

I like the free seeds from GW magazine and garden news paper and if you buy 5 packets of seeds from online Mr forthergills you get 2 free seed packs which is good
