Or possibly some sort of basil?  Rub a leaf - all basils have distinctive smells.

the plant is approx 18" high and at the timee of the picture being taken it had just been watered so the leaves may look rather shiney

Does it have any smell - the leaves etc?

It looks like it could seed itself everywhere.

there does not seem to be any patricular smell from either plant or leaves
