I have a large fast growing buddleia bush growing up between block paving patio bricks close to a wall. It's in a very difficult to reach area and I want to avoid herbicides as it's next to the cat run. Would pouring boiling salt water on the base kill the roots? I don't need anything else to grow there in future.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

How large is large Stephanie? Is it tearing up the paving slabs? Most plants give up the ghost if they have their bark removed. Peel the bark off as near to the ground as you can - an inch wide strip all round should do the trick - and wait a few months. Getting it out will be the real problem as their roots go way down. Resetting the block paving won't be easy.
