I might not be saying much but there are always plants here and I'll be ready when the time comes. Seeds will be sorted soon.

Brilliant Nut!

Clarington, I have made a rough list of things in my garden I could try to take cuttings from;

Bay, sage, prostrate form of Rosemary, French Lavender, Cotton Lavender (artemisia) marjoram, oregano, thyme, berberis (?) hebes, viburnham, winter flowering jasmine etc. I am sure some of them may be impossible to grow from cuttings, but we shall see. My other idea is; if the gardens/greenhouses are not ready for hot house veg this summer, I can always sell plants at my front gate to enable me to send cash for the flooded gardens

It is just brilliant that so many people are thinking about this really awful situation.

Artjak - that's a really clever idea of raising funds to send over. My future mother-in-law did something similar for the cancer nurses last year but it seems the people who walk past her house aren't exactly "honest" when it comes to putting money in the pot Hopefully your neighbours are more generous!

I'm sure I'll have plenty of packets of seed I won't use. I live about half an hour from Jeannie so  if you want to PM me Rosie, I'd be happy to forward you my email to give Jeannie if she would like me to help her with organising/posting/ etc.

Clarington; I have Flossie -Flo; my bodyguard and general policewoman for the street! O.K., her legs are only 4" long but she scares the s...t out of most people. (she's a tiny Jack Russell who thinks she's a Dobermann)

I'm sure that if I put up a BIG sign saying what the money goes to that it will encourage people to buy.

But hopefully, a lot of the plants will actually go to the Somerset levels this year. A lot can happen in the next few months; let's hope it is all good.

I'll drink to that, artjak!

05/03/2014 at 19:08

Big pat for Flossie-Flo..........most people are honest......aren't they ?  One hopes so....Good for you anyway Artjac........a lot of people will be happier just to know that others are thinking about them........

Flossie Flo says 'bark' She sits by my feet when I'm on the computer, growling every time someone dares to walk down the street.
