Growing in the garden or in a container?

They are growing in the  garden, perhaps I should mention we are only 100yds from the sea, although they have some relative prorection,

Where they both bought at the same time are identical?

Meant to say "and are identical?"

yes i they were bought at the same time, and were identical when bought

Right- my feeling is one has not ventured into the surrounding ground whereas the other has and the poorly one is suffering from lack of nutrients etc.

My suggestion would be to carefully dig it up -if you find the roots are still confined to the original root-ball tease them out, enrich the soil, replant perhaps in another spot and keep well-watered
