pathetic cucumbers

hi i bought female only cucumber plants this year, neednt worry about taking off male flowers! i have loads of cucumbers but for the last 3/4 weeks they have been 2 inches long and pencil thin! no growth whatsoever and some now rotting off. what am i doing wrong?? i also hav brown patches coming on all tomato stems, not soggy but surely not good! whats that all about?? you guys always give me good answers, good luck this time  Jo

sounds like blight to me.

There is a long discussion here on blight on tomatoes etc-perhaps if you could post a photo of the symptoms ??
