princess Louise rose
Hi all, I bought a rambler 'Princess Louise' direct from David Austin almost 2& a half years ago, it never grew much, though it was 2 metres away from the tree I wanted it to climb through, it never got much more than 1 foot high, so in March I moved it ( also moved 2 other roses and both doing well ), lightly pruned it to prevent root stress ( though rootball was insubstantial when I dug it up)used microrhizal funghi, planted with planty of manure, fed it and now spray with seaweed sparay every week -10 days, just went out to look at it, top inch had died back, it has a tiny new shoot near the bottom, it's now 2 inches tall with no leaves ... I phoned DA they said probably give it up if no better very soon, so am wondering whether to go for the same rose or the 2 others I like are 'Albrighton Rambler ' or 'Felicite Perpetue ' has anyone any experience of any of these? It's for a colonade, thanks in advance

just looking at 'Albertine', looks lovely too...
sorry... googling lots, love 'blush noisette ' but it says 8 foot also 'times past' says 8-12 foot, I'm being thick I know, will someone help me with dimensions? Colonade is 6 foot tall and about 18 foot along, what size of rose should I go for please?
Albertine is lovely, but you need to dead head it a lot as the spent flowers can ruin the look of the ones underneath.
thanks b3 wondering if at 20 ft is too big? as I say unsure whether to go for something at 18 ft as that's the lengtht or 8 ft as that's nearer the height
Mine's a good few years old and nowhere near 20feet. It is quite well behaved
Hortico is right, it doesn't repeat flower, but the florets tend to open separately, which extends the flowering period. The buds are a lovely dark pink.
thanks both, am thinking it may be a bit too strong a colour and am leaning towards 'Blush Noisette' I may be better with 2 of those? Think I've decided for myself that Princess Louise isn't going to grow, I suppose if I put her in a pot in a quiet corner she may recover, then I could try to find her another spot! No, DA didn't offer a replacement, is it because it's more than 2 years since I bought it, or because I moved it? I should have asked but was distracted by a tired upset toddler
