Pussy willow disease??

Evening one and all. first time here so here goes. I have a pussy willow that I planted about a year ago. First year it had loads of little fuzzies on as it should. This year it has gone straight to leaf and today I noticed there seemed to be loads of flies on it. On closer inspection I noticed that there were literally thousands of tiny pin prick size mites all over it from top to bottom. Has anyone come across this before or have any idea what it could be?.

Sounds like an insect infestation of some sort. Try spraying with a mildly soapy mix to see if that helps - the degree of infestation that you describe can't be doing the tree much good.
