Lack of sunshine

Our daily newspaper tells us how much sunshine was recorded during the previous day. As it is the start of a new month - the sunshine table says we have had just 68.6 hours of sunshine during February. That is 21 hours less than the average for February during the past few years. This shortage affects all of us - not just gardeners. How much sunshine did your area have during February - and which area do you live in? It would be interesting to compare with other areas.

What's 'sunshine in February' ?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Sounds like a song
That's 'Sunshine on Leith' you're thinking of Sparkles...don't think Leith gets much in February either!

I've not been conscious of much sun in Devon in February this year I have to say.
The sun shone for a little while yesterday ...... think that was our February ration .... the weather gods probably misunderstood the Leap Year thing
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
February was so much milder than normal here in Glasgow. I can't ever remember cutting the grass at this time of year before, nor sitting out (with a fleece on) having lunch (which we were able to do on about seven days). I do have a very sunny back garden and at the weekend the difference in temp. between front and back gardens was 10degC. Hard frost at the front, glorious sunshine at the back.
It's all to do with the Gulf Stream apparently - seems it has taken a nose dive. Think I'll move up to Glasgow Esspee - it must be the new hot spot!
Just shows how a difference of a few hundred feet or a few miles can alter the temps. I'm ten miles south of Glasgow, but around four hundred feet up and the garden's quite exposed. It was lovely on Sunday - minus five in the morning but getting to about plus five later - but it would have been a bit chilly to sit and have lunch! Certainly couldn't cut the grass either.
Whereabouts are you Esspee - are you in the city itself ?
But would you enjoy all the wind and rain GDonkey?....

We have had plenty of that too - just hope that the Spring and Summer make up for the lack of sunshine now - I will keep you all posted (if I remember). It would be interesting to compare weather records later on in the year if anyone is interested.
