We moved into a new house a couple of years ago and inherited an old pear tree.  We're new to gardening and learning as we go along.  The previous owners knew very little about the tree (variety, age etc) but said that it only produced pears every other year.  Last year it produced 1 stunningly delicious pear and this year (following some very careful pruning) it looks like it will produce loads.  But we still don't know what variety it is, can anyone help?

Thanks Sarah

RHS has fruit identification days. See RHS website for details. You take along some fruit and they can tell you what variety it is. They have some at Wisley, and also at Vincent square in London.

If you attend an Apple Day; they  are held all over the country, someone will help you.
