Pig= pork, cow= beef, deer = venison sheep = mutton comes from the language changes dating from the Norman invasion. Porque, boeuf mouton and venaison (last French for edible meat of deer.) Chicken wasn't considered to be meat. Girly swot signing off and going back to her garden.

Thank you girly swot, I am enlightened.

There will be no barbeque. Its a garden party - same as the Queen has at Buck House. Queen of potatoes has to follow royal protocol you know.

Alina I had imagined the apron was the one with the girl in the bikini.

Lottie so all cucumber sandwiches and lemon drizzle cake I have a fascinator

Geoff do you need sympathy?

01/06/2012 at 12:40

Will I get any sympathy?

Are we sure about flip-flops -they do show toes?

01/06/2012 at 13:27

Showing toes is fine provided the toenails are suitably decorated - I know you have experience in this area! Cucumber sandwiches, cake and pots of tea will be served.

Today is my Mum's birthday and I'm getting her some poo as a present!

Horse poo I hope

Man flu does not get sympathy, is it something more serious.

Gardener is now using a duster and polish on the shed and garden bench, I feel a trend developing.

01/06/2012 at 13:54

Nobody cares

That is extreme cleaning

OH has bought a hula-hoop~not a snack, but an actual hula-hoop~I used to be able to do that

01/06/2012 at 13:55

Geoff I am a little disappointed they really should be red, white and blue.

01/06/2012 at 13:58

Red,brown and blue-we are a multi-cultural society

01/06/2012 at 14:06

Yep, we are building her 2 raised beds and I'm going to the stables after work today to shovel up some lovely manure!

I can't hula at all.

01/06/2012 at 14:14

Lottie are you building a very, very, long ladder so you Mum can get in her raised beds?

01/06/2012 at 14:23

I cannot hula either

Geoff I will send chicken soup.

Good news I up ended my castor oil plant and it has lots of roots, just does not want to grow.

01/06/2012 at 14:53

Kate my cator oil plants struggled and then when about 12 inches high developed flowers.  I cut these off and repotted and suddenly they have sprung into life and are now double the size.  Repotting in a different compost may be the answer.

01/06/2012 at 14:57

Thanks Muddy Fork I cut the flowers off last week but I was getting a little impatient. I will repot now.

01/06/2012 at 15:10

Have tried the hula- can't find the instructions or a place to plug it in-have decided to wear this for Lotties Party-it matches my feet

01/06/2012 at 15:38

I shall bring my strimmer

01/06/2012 at 15:41

I shall be wearing the budgie-smugglers underneath
