Daughter entrance to flat is an alleyway off the main shopping street. She found a large amount of drug paraphenalia outside her door, called police etc but now feels very unsafe as they think it was dealers stash. Her partner works till really late at night - need I go on. Now desperately looking for a new home.

Rosa , If this info is of any use to you:-dig a trench where you intend to plant your courgette and squash and fill with half rotting compost back fill soil and plant in June.

It's ginnel around here too, but alleyway as well. Think it depends on where the resident grew up. From WMidlands so alleyway to me & neighbour Southerner so she's the same, but PCSO uses ginnel. They arent allowed to work near to where they live, but she's still a northern lass.

OH's little house has one next to it, but for the life of me cant remember what they call it, def not ginnel nor alley/way.

Bjay, sympathies re drug situation for your daughter. We have had some past probs at the side/behind us, but touch wood, not for a few yrs now. Drinking teens, now that is the latest problem. J.

Rosa, have you heard of " square foot gardening" ,its on Utube don't know how to upload link , but it is very interesting ,it might sort your soil probs'

Evening Forkers Bit late for registration as swapped my normal school day of Wednesday for today and have been doing lots of ICT work (the children have been helping me mostly) .   Am tired out now  and also, Geoff, that Deano kept me awake all night with his snoring .   Pages of chat to catch up on now .....  what are all these new threads???  Hope everyone is well and had a good day

Pam, the Lasagne was a huge let down. Looked so nice on the box! I would not send it to anyone's cyber locker I'm afraid. Will try doing my own from scratch next time.
