As we head towards Autumn, join us in our third BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair, in the picturesque grounds of English Heritage’s Audley End House and Gardens, in Essex, from Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September, 2024.

Be inspired by planting and design ideas that’ll see you through to next Spring, tips from your Magazine editors and special guests, shopping, live entertainment, delicious food at the Good Food Market, plus join a Plant Expert Tour around the grounds of Audley End. Some BBC Two Gardeners’ World TV magic comes to Audley End as presenters, Adam Frost (Friday), Joe Swift (Saturday) and Rachel de Thame (Sunday) share autumn gardening tips on the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Stage with editor Kevin Smith and team, plus David Hurrion.

The drop in ‘Autumn Season Stage’ sees even more experts, plus talks in the Subscriber Club Lounge. You can even get 1-to-1 landscaping advice from the APL Design Clinic.

Garden inspiration

As we head towards Autumn, you can get great ideas from the Beautiful Borders and Showcase Gardens for how to get the most out of your garden in the seasons ahead. The space Savvy Borders have a ‘My Garden Escape’ theme in 2024. The enhanced Association of Professional Landscapers’ (APL) Skills Competition with three member landscaping companies testing their creative and technical skills to build a competition standard show garden in just 16.5 hours as they watch the countdown clock.

The Plant Crèche at the Autumn Fair gives you the opportunity to drop off your plants, and all your shopping, in a safe and secure area at the Fair and collect them at the end of your visit, so you can enjoy all the fun of the fair bag-free! The friendly and helpful Perennial team are on hand to coordinate and assist you.

BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair Workshops

NEW this year, you can take a workshop with one of the Fair’s Plant Experts, with a programme designed to boost autumn gardening and growing skills, led by Lucy Chamberlain and Saul Walker.

The hugely popular Autumn Garden Bouquet Workshops with Kim O’Brien (@dahliafarmerama) and Oyster Mushroom Growing Workshops with the Caley Brothers, return.

Plus, back after popular demand, Cara Thompson will lead new Seed-Sowing Workshops, from the Make It Flourish community growing programme, sponsored by Mr Fothergills Seeds and SylvaGrow.

Join one of the special garden tours available at the Autumn Fair

You have a chance to learn more about the incredible gardens at Audley End, by booking onto one of the popular tours. The Plant Expert Tours will take you on a journey through the famous Organic Kitchen Gardens, wall to wall with garden history and fascinating techniques.

You can also drop in on a Capability Brown Tour to learn more about the incredible landscape that surrounds the site as you tour the grounds.

Enjoy a day out exploring the spacious grounds and estate of one of England’s grandest mansions, Audley End. Whether you’re exploring the servant’s wing, state rooms, stables, kitchen garden or beautiful grounds, you’ll discover how a what life was like above and below stairs at a Victorian country house.
