Monty Don starts off his trial of outdoor melons by planting the variety 'Outdoor Wonder' into a hot bed. In this clip from Gardeners' World, he takes you through the process of creating the hot bed, using fresh horse manure topped with compost, planting two young melons into the upper layer. He also advises on aftercare.
