Gymnocalycium monvillei is a small, rounded, blue-green cactus with incurving spines and pale pink blooms that appear in spring and summer.

For best results, grow Gymnocalycium monvillei in a greenhouse or on a sunny windowsill. Water freely in summer and feed with a high potassium feed. Said to be hardy down to -5°C, but must be kept dry in winter to ensure survival.

Protect from the hottest summer sun, especially if grown under glass, to avoid sun scorch and stunted growth.
