Arisaema consanguineum is a tall growing, tuberous perennial bearing just one umbrella-shaped leaf. In summer, a purple-brown hooded spathe with green and white stripes appears beneath it, followed by bright red berries in autumn. Native to the Himalayas, it’s frost hardy but will need protection in winter.

For best results grow Arisaema consanguineum in a very sheltered spot in moist but well-drained soil. Mulch in winter and don’t allow the tubers to dry out. In colder regions, grow in pots which you can move indoors in autumn.
