Known as the butterfly bush, Buddleja davidii bears conical, nectar-rich flowers, which attract butterflies and bees in late summer. Flowers come in a variety of colours including purple, blue, pink and white. Plants are easy to grow and thrive in almost any situation, but will attract more butterflies and bees if grown in full sun.

Buddleja davidii 'Orpheus’ bears panicles of lilac-purple flowers with a distinctive white eye around an orange centre, from July to September. To encourage later flowering (which benefits garden butterflies such as the small tortoiseshell), cut plants back to the base in May.
