Bowles's golden grass, Milium effusum, is a semi-evergreen grass, perfect for growing in a shady spot. It starts growing early in spring, quickly forming a carpet of yellowish leaves, which mature to bright green. Its nodding yellow flowers in summer complement the look.

Grow Milium effusum towards the front of a shady border, or as part of a woodland planting scheme, in moist, almost boggy soil.
