Mukdenia 'Karasuba' is an attractive, clump-forming perennial native to north-east Asia. It bears rich green, maple-like foliage, which is topped by pretty sprays of bell-shaped white flowers in spring. In late summer the leaves turn a rich claret before dying back. A woodland plant, it provides valuable groundcover in shady areas and looks particularly good when planted in drifts.

Grow Mukdenia 'Karasuba' in moist but well-drained soil in partial to full shade. Lift and divide large clumps in spring, before new growth appears. Protect young foliage from slugs and snails and keep well watered during the growing season.
