Pennisetum glaucum 'Purple Baron' produces spiky, dark purple flower spikes from July to September. Grow Pennisetum glaucum 'Purple Baron' in moist well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. Cut back dead top growth by early spring, and protect from frost with a dry mulch in winter.
