Potentillas (cinquefoil) are perennials with pretty, strawberry-like flowers and leaves from spring to midsummer. They're perfect for adding colour to a well-drained herbaceous border.

Potentilla 'Etna' is a stunning variety with velvety, chocolate-red, semi-double flowers set against silvery foliage. It looks especially good planted alongside other sun-loving plants in cottage garden borders or gravel gardens.

For best results, grow Potentilla 'Etna' in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Cut back in autumn after flowering. Deadheading will extend the flowering period.
