Perennial salvias make a great addition to ornamental borders, producing spiky, nectar-rich flowers right through summer, into autumn.
Salvia greggii 'Emperor' bears masses of wonderful maroon-purple flowers from June to October. It's perfect for planting near a bench or path, where you can enjoy its pretty blooms and fragrant foliage. The flowers are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinators.
For best results grow Salvia greggii 'Emperor' in well-drained soil in full sun. 'Emperor' is frost hardy so may need protection in cooler climates, but cuttings take easily.
