Ashweed, Senecio haworthii, is a low-growing, drought-tolerant succulent, suitable for sun-baked containers and rock gardens. It bears pretty, upright cylindrical leaves covered in fine silver-white hairs, giving the plant an almost ghostly look. Bright yellow flowers appear in summer.

For best results grow Senecio haworthii in sandy, well-drained soil or cactus compost in full sun. Hardy to -6°, it will need protection or overwintering indoors in cooler regions. Propagate by cuttings in spring.
