What is the Flymo C-Link system?

The Flymo C-Link interchangeable battery system consists of a number of tools that all use the same interchangeable power head and battery. Tools can be bought individually or in a combi pack.

What tools are included in the Flymo C-Link system?

A blower, two grass trimmers, two hedge trimmers and a telescopic hedge trimmer are all included in the range. We tested the C-Link Combi pack 3 in 1, which includes a hedge trimmer, grass trimmer and blower as well as an interchangeable head, two batteries and a charger.

Is there a range of batteries available in the Flymo C-Link system?

There is one 20 V 2.5 Ah lithium –ion battery in the range, which has a charge time of 180 minutes. Run time varies according to the tool – blower 12 minutes, grass trimmer up to 21 minutes, hedge trimmer up to 55 minutes. The battery has a charge indicator signalling how much charge is left via three green LED lights that illuminate according to how much charge the battery has.

What are the tools in the Flymo C-Link system like?

The tools are easy to set up (only the grass trimmer needs the handle and guard attaching) and the batteries and head click easily together and on to each tool. All the tools are light, quiet and well balanced although the curved shaft on the grass trimmer is short and was uncomfortable for some of our testers. Line is fed by the tap ‘n go system – for more line you simply tap the head of the trimmer whilst in use.

The blower is light, well balanced and comfortable for both right and left-hand use and the nozzle comes apart for easy storage.

The hedge trimmer has a wrap round handle and although there is no safety lock all three buttons have to be engaged for it to work.

All three tools lacked power, compared to some others tested and the grass and hedge trimmer struggled with thick or dense growth.

Who is the Flymo C-Link system most useful for?

Although lacking the strength of some of the other systems in this review all testers agree this is a great value set for the small garden or occasional use. It performs simple trimming and blowing jobs easily and well and is ideal for weekend gardeners.

Is the Flymo C-Link system good value for money?

The Flymo C-Link Combi pack 3 in 1 that we tested costs £199, which we think is excellent value for money for three tools, a charger and a couple of batteries. The tools are lightweight, simple and easy to use.
