Sheltered in a small valley, the walled garden offers extensive herbaceous borders, zigzag paths, spiral-cut lawns, a moon gate and lichen-clad steps. In addition to a kitchen garden and orchard, there is a restored rock garden, where vibrant alpines are settling into their craggy new homes. The surrounding parkland is rich in wildlife, from otters to kingfishers, and even the elusive Scottish wildcat.
