With an octagonal brick dovecote as its architectural focal point, the extensive walled garden is full of colour and interest. Gravel paths lead you past double flower borders, immaculate vegetable beds, an impressive herb collection and trained fruit, including fig trees thought to be about 375 years old. A more recent addition is the Bacchus garden, with climate‑resilient borders.
