Agapanthus are South African plants with dark green, strap-like leaves and showy flowers in shades of blue, violet or white. They are ideal for growing in containers, from which their pretty blooms stand tall, spilling over other pots, creating a pleasing display.
Agapanthus 'Brilliant Blue' is a superb agapanthus, bearing rich blue flowers with a deep purple stripe on each petal, giving blooms a bicoloured appearance. Stems are tall and leaves are a rich mid-green. For best results grow 'Brilliant Blue' in a sheltered, sunny spot, in moist but well-drained soil. In exposed areas give Agapanthus 'Brilliant Blue' some winter protection – or simply grow in pots and move indoors in autumn.
