Erect Centaury, Centaurea triumfettii subsp. stricta, bears clumps of woolly, lance-shaped, grey-green leaves from which, tall, upright stems bear blue flowers with pink centres and contrasting dark stamens, in summer. It’s a lovely species, ideal for growing in rockeries and alpine gardens as well as part of a container display.
Grow Centaurea triumfettii subsp. stricta in well-drained soil in full sun. Deadhead regularly and protect foliage from slugs and snails.
