The laser cut, diamond ground steel blade has a cutting length of 46cm and a 15mm cutting capacity. It has a bumper guard on the tip to protect it from damage and a handy hanging hole on the end and the trimmer has a two-hand start for safety. The 18V 2.0Ah battery takes just 40 minutes to charge and runs for an impressive 80 minutes and the battery charge level is visible, at the touch of a button, while working.

This compact trimmer is light and quiet and simple to use, just click in the battery, hold the handle, engage the second safety switch and it’s running. Although the blade is shorter and narrower than others in the test, it cuts smoothly and is easy to handle. The battery charge is reassuringly visible, at the touch of button, as you work but as this trimmer has the longest run time in our test, you’ll probably have finished the jib before it needs charging. The included fast charger gets it back up and running in a handy 40 minutes so if you do need to keep trimming you won’t have to wait too long.
