What are the Vonhaus 1800W 2-in-1 Scarifier's main features?

The Vonhaus 1800W 2-in-1 Scarifier is a sturdy machine, made with a robust but lightweight plastic body, which weighs 16.1kg. Powered with a 1800W motor, it removes moss, thatch and other organic lawn debris very efficiently and has two interchangeable drums to switch between aerating and scarifying modes, both of which have a working width of 38cm. We really like the soft-grip handles for comfort, and the dual start up system, where you simply press the start button and squeeze the handle. It also has a built-in thermal cut out if it overheats. The interchangeable scarifier drum features strong metal tines, while the aerator has steel blades that create slits in the top layer of the soil to help maintain healthy turf, rather than deep holes made by manual aerators, which relieve compaction or improve heavy clay. What’s the Vonhaus 1800W 2-in-1 Scarifier like to use?

The body of this 2-in-1 scarifier comes assembled, you just need to attach the handles, which is easy to do and doesn't require additional tools. This machine is noticeably big, measuring 60cm wide, however, we like that it’s still light and easy to manoeuvre. That said, it’s best to turn it off to reposition it at the start of the next row, to prevent the blades from scuffing the turf as it’s pushed back and forth into position. We also found that set at the lowest setting, it leaves the lawn looking a little ragged. It’s also super easy to change the drums using the allen key provided. Unsurprisingly, given the power of this machine, it’s noisy, reaching 104dB, which is 10dB louder than others in the group we tested. The generously-sized 55L collection bag is moderately efficient, but misses some debris as there’s a gap between the box and the blades.

Who is the Vonhaus 1800W 2-in-1 Scarifier most useful for?

With its 60cm width and 10m cable it’s ideal for gardeners with small to medium lawns, and it will need a decent-sized storage space as it’s quite large. However, the handles fold, which helps a little.

Is the Vonhaus 1800W 2-in-1 Scarifier good value for money?

This scarifier is at the cheaper end of the group we tested for combination machines - given this, and the fact that it’s two machines in one as well as coming with a two year warranty, we feel it’s good value for money.
