This unique Victorian garden was created by James Bateman to display his collection of plants gathered from around the world. A visit takes you on a fascinating global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen. Exotic plants and vibrant displays are set among quirky buildings, clipped hedges and mature trees. Paths, steps and tunnels lead you from one garden to the next, on an intriguing and colourful adventure, full of surprises.
Check before you travel
Before setting off check the garden’s website or call direct, as opening details can vary and one-off restrictions may apply.
We advise checking the garden’s own website or calling them direct to ensure the published details are accurate, as opening times and restrictions may vary.
Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
