Designed by renowned 19th-century landscape designer Humphry Repton, the extensive grounds are being restored to his original plans, enhancing their natural beauty. Enjoy a relaxing walk to explore the woodlands, river, bridge, summer house, gazebo island, ancient oak (nearly 1,000 years old) and wildlife. Visited by Jane Austen, this idyllic setting was the inspiration for various locations in her novels.

Important update

With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, gardens in the 2-for-1 directory are beginning to open.

To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, many have special measures in place, including pre-booking and limiting the number of visitors.

Before visiting a garden, please contact the garden directly to determine their opening status and any restrictions that may apply.

Please note: we’re unable to keep all individual 2-for-1 garden pages updated, but we will publish the latest details that we have on our weekly updates page from week commencing Monday 8 June, 2020.
